sneak peek
Friday
jl schnabel of bloodmilk and i spent yesterday choosing final photographs and editing images for her newest lookbook. we've decided to leak one image, featuring 'the temple' ring, an unimaginably beautiful "pyramid of snowflake obsidian held in with four perfect sterling sparrow claws". 'the temple' is available in the shop in black stone variations and exclusively in different stones at loved to death.
Saturday
levi's and UO have launched a free bike shop tour to kick off the new commuter line. a crew from levi's has been driving around a giant mobile bike shop and offering free tune-ups, repairing and tailoring, and handing out new grip tape, water bottles, and bells. i walked over for a few minutes with some other kids from the center city store when the crew from levis had set up outside city hall to check out the event.
Wednesday
i'm still editing the final photographs from the up and coming bloodmilk jewelry lookbook, but had a few really great outtakes of the shoot - including images of jl schnabel, amber lynn, and myself. we shot in the home of the local artists paul romano and jeremy hush, who basically live in a four story version of the mutter museum. with an entire house of amazing props at our disposal, along with borrowed books from margaux kent and clothing supplied by ovate, we made some really beautiful photographs, and i couldn't wait to share a peek into our latest project.
Tuesday
we found the entire remnants of a horseshoe crab at the beach. i was surprised because usually i only come across bits and pieces or tails. patrick spent a lot of time digging for sand crabs (or mole crabs) and collecting shells and stones to mix in with the soil for our new cacti. i spent most of the day in and out of the water. i like watching the mussels burrow back into the sand when the waves go out.
Saturday
the a/c in our hotel room while on the island was freezing cold, and when we'd head out for the day i'd forget how humid it was outside until i went to take a few pictures and realized that the camera lens had fogged up. most of the time i just waited until the moisture had dissipated but i did manage to take a few cloudy images that i liked.
Thursday
while patrick and i were on the island, we would ride our bikes through the wildlife refuge to get to the beach. it was a long dirt trail that weaves through the marshes on the island. most people take the main road that's a few miles in the other direction because the bike trail is too small for cars to use. the trail was a few miles long, and felt even longer when we were loaded up with our tent and towels and beach necessities, but to get our own stretch of private beach for the day it was worth it.
