INSPIRATION: Layered Rugs

Saturday

Modern Furniture with Layered Rugs
source

I love the look of layered rugs. I wasn't able to try it out until recently when I renovated the last bedroom in our house (coming soon!) - I'd ordered a rug that turned out to be too small and figured that it was the perfect time to give layering a try!

Here's a few more examples of how layering rugs can add more pattern and texture to a space!

INSPIRATION: Hex Tile Mosaics

Thursday

I'm starting to fall in love with the idea of creating a hex tile floor mosaic. Hexagon tiles offer endless possibilities with color and pattern ranging from classic motifs in black and white to bright and modern designs.

FIVE FAVORITES: Printed Pillow Covers

Wednesday

I love pillows. I can't get enough (really, I need more). But I love buying tons of different pillow covers - it's a quick and easy way to change a room in need of something new. I love the mixture of textured fabrics (especially linen) with graphic and geometric prints.

INSPIRATION: Breakfast Nook

Tuesday

The next project that we're working on is a corner breakfast nook right outside of our kitchen. Here's a roundup of some inspiration that I'm looking at while we're building.

INSPIRATION: Black on Black Tile

Thursday

Ever since I saw this image I've been obsessed with putting hexagon tile on the floor of my vestibule. I have a vestibule now, by the way. I didn't even know what it was called. But I have one, and now I know what to do with it.

And while trying to decide what color grout I wanted to use I found so many beautiful combinations of black tile with black grout - it's so minimal and understated - especially when the tile is matte. It creates such a great tonal texture.

DIY PROJECT: Vintage Doorknobs

Tuesday

Last weekend we refinished our house's original vestibule door. While Patrick was sanding off the layers of old paint and adding a few new coats we repainted the hardware and replaced the knobs with some crackled porcelain knobs that I found the weekend before.

FIVE FAVORITES: Industrial Shelving

I love piles of dishes, bottled ingredients, and stacks of cookbooks displayed on open shelving - now that I have an actual kitchen, this is the first fixture that I'm totally committed to getting.
